Origin of Domestic Cats

Remote ancestors of domestic cats is probably the Martelli wild cat (Felis lumensis), a species now extinct.
Approximately the same size with a small wild cat today.
Approximately 600000-900000 years ago these animals may reduce the Felis silvestris, from these animals appear to grow three different types according to region and the environment in which the animal's life.
The third type is the central European cat or wild cat forest (F. silvestris silvestris), Asian desert cat (F. silvestris ornata), and African wild cat (F. silvestris lybica).
The latter species inhabit most of Asia and North Africa, and due process of cat domestication took place mainly in the Middle East, African wild cat is almost certainly the main ancestor of modern domestic cats.
